Exhibition on Pain and Choices Captured in Photos... 'Pain_The Gaze of Two Men, the Space Between Them' to be Held
<Complaints>
The photo exhibition 'Anguish_Two Men's Gaze, The Void Between Them' (hereinafter referred to as the 'Anguish' exhibition) will be held at the Seohakdong Photo Art Museum in Jeonju from the 29th of this month until October 4th.
This exhibition, in which artists Song Daekyu, Minwon, and Jang Kideok from nom's exhibition participate, captures 'Anguish' as an essential process of seeking answers from each artist's perspective.
Artist Minwon defines 'Anguish' as the paradox of life where obsession and abandonment repeat. Through the process of a plaster-made thumb breaking into dust, he expresses the finite nature of human beings hidden behind success and desire. The physical hand disappears, but the shadow remains like a lingering scar, reflecting on a life that has followed the gaze of others and external standards, conveying a message of rest and restraint found in the emptied void.
Photographer Jang Kideok metaphorically compares the inner self standing at a crossroads to landscapes. He records the process of life that wavers, endures, and progresses through images of a still boat, rough sea, plants growing through concrete cracks, and diverging paths. Rather than providing answers, the artist leads viewers to question 'where they stand' for themselves.
Meanwhile, the perspectives of three artists with different backgrounds, including Song Daekyu, who has been active as a media art and cultural planner, Minwon, who transcends painting and photography, and Jang Kideok, who records daily life, come together to present a richer spectrum. The exhibition offers a space where questions and silence linger instead of definitive answers, guiding viewers on an inner journey.
