전북대학교 피지컬AI융합기술사업추진단은 13일 정동영 의원이 전북대 창조2관 피지컬AI 실증랩과 DH오토리드를 방문해 2025년 피지컬AI 사전검증(PoC) 사업 성과를 확인하고, ‘전북 AX 본사업’ 추진계획을 논의했다고 밝혔다.

이번 방문은 2026년 4월 착수를 목표로 추진 중인 전북 AX 본사업의 예산 반영과 준비 상황을 점검하기 위해 마련됐다. 현장에는 과학기술정보통신부, 정보통신산업진흥원(NIPA), 한국과학기술원, 성균관대학교, 캠틱종합기술원 등 산학연 관계자들이 참석했다.

추진단에 따르면 2025년 8월부터 12월까지 5개월간 진행된 PoC 사업을 통해 전북대 제조 실증랩과 KAIST 물류 실증랩을 구축하고, 3개 실증기업 공정에 피지컬AI 기술을 적용했다. 전북대 창조2관 실증랩은 846㎡ 규모로 조성됐으며, 국비 51억5천만 원이 투입됐다. P-Zone과 I-Zone 기반 실증 인프라를 통해 로봇·디지털트윈 기반 MES 연계 생산 검증과 다중 로봇 협업 실험을 수행한다.

전북 AX 본사업은 2026~2030년 추진되는 대형 R&D 사업으로, 제조공장 특화 피지컬AI 기반 협업지능 소프트웨어 플랫폼을 개발해 ‘AI 다크팩토리’ 구현을 목표로 한다. 총사업비 1조 원 규모로, 2026년 국비 767억 원 반영을 계획하고 있다.

정동영 의원은 “피지컬AI는 제조 경쟁력을 좌우할 핵심 기술”이라며 “전북이 산업 AX 전환의 선도 거점이 되도록 정책적 지원을 아끼지 않겠다”고 밝혔다.

양오봉 전북대 총장은 “연구개발과 실증을 동시에 수행하는 현장 중심 역량을 바탕으로 지역 제조산업의 AX 전환을 이끌겠다”고 말했다. 김순태 추진단장도 “산학연관 협력을 강화해 제조 현장의 생산성·안전·품질 혁신으로 이어지도록 하겠다”고 밝혔다.

The Physical AI Convergence Technology Project Team at Chonbuk National University announced on the 13th that lawmaker Jung Dong-young visited the Physical AI Demonstration Lab in the Creative 2 Building and DH Autoreed to confirm the results of the 2025 Physical AI Proof of Concept (PoC) project and discuss the implementation plan for the "Chonbuk AX Main Project."

This visit was arranged to check the budget allocation and preparation status for the Chonbuk AX Main Project, which is scheduled to start in April 2026. Representatives from the Ministry of Science, ICT, and Future Planning, the National IT Industry Promotion Agency (NIPA), the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST), Sungkyunkwan University, and the KATIC Comprehensive Technology Institute attended the event.

According to the project team, the PoC project, which took place from August to December 2025 for five months, established the Chonbuk University Manufacturing Demonstration Lab and the KAIST Logistics Demonstration Lab, applying Physical AI technology to three demonstration processes. The Chonbuk University Creative 2 Building Demonstration Lab, covering an area of 846 square meters, was constructed with a government investment of 51.5 billion won. Through the P-Zone and I-Zone-based demonstration infrastructure, they conduct production verification of robot-digital twin-based MES and experiments on multi-robot collaboration.

The Chonbuk AX Main Project is a large-scale R&D project to be implemented from 2026 to 2030, aiming to develop a specialized Physical AI-based collaborative intelligence software platform for manufacturing factories and achieve the realization of an "AI Dark Factory." With a total project cost of 1 trillion won, they plan to allocate 767 billion won in government funds in 2026.

Lawmaker Jung Dong-young stated, "Physical AI is a core technology that will determine manufacturing competitiveness," and expressed his commitment to not sparing policy support for making Chonbuk a leading hub for industrial AX transformation.

President Yang Oh-bong of Chonbuk National University said, "Based on the capacity to conduct research and development and demonstration simultaneously, we will lead the transformation of the local manufacturing industry to AX." Project leader Kim Soon-tae also stated, "We will strengthen industry-academia collaboration to lead to productivity, safety, and quality innovation in manufacturing sites."
