【전북교육신문】국가유산청 국립무형유산원(원장 박판용)은 오는 4월 3일 오후 4시 국립무형유산원 어울마루 대공연장(전북 전주시)에서 ‘무형유산 창작랩 공개 행사(쇼케이스)’를 개최한다. 이번 행사는 올해부터 새롭게 추진된 「무형유산 창작랩」 창작체류(레지던시) 사업의 첫 성과를 극장관계자와 공연전문가들에게 공개하는 자리로 전통예능 전승자들이 현대적 감각으로 재해석한 창작 공연을 한자리에서 만나볼 수 있다.
국립무형유산원은 2020년부터 공모 사업을 통해 선정된 전승자들이 일정 기간 동안 국립무형유산원 안에 마련되어 있는 교육시설에 입주해 공연을 제작하도록 지원하는 입주(레지던시)형 창작 프로그램 「무형유산 예능풍류방 레지던시」 사업을 운영해 왔다. 올해부터는 기존의 결과 중심 공연에서 한 걸음 더 나아가, 전승자들이 공연 전문가들과 함께 기획부터 연구, 창작, 발표에 이르는 전 과정에 직접 나서 동시대적 감각을 반영한 공연 콘텐츠를 개발하고 실험할 수 있도록 「무형유산 창작랩」 사업으로 참여 방식을 더욱 확장했다.
극장 관계자와 공연 전문가를 대상으로 진행되는 이번 행사는 총 3개 팀이 참여해 무형유산의 새로운 가능성을 선보인다. 전문가들의 평가를 통해 작품의 완성도를 점검하고 향후 공연 유통의 가능성과 확장 방향을 함께 검토하는 방식으로 운영되어, 무형유산 공연의 창작 역량을 강화하고 유통과 확산으로 이어질 수 있는 기반을 마련하고자 한다.
▲ 첫 번째 작품은 블루 찬트(BLUE CHANT) 팀의 ‘BIRTH: 지극한 나의 의례’로, 동해안 별신굿 ‘세존굿’을 현대적으로 재해석한 작품이다. 무녀의 정서를 잔잔히 흐르는 소리로 풀어내 축원의 마음과 기운을 전한다. ▲ 두 번째 작품은 타래 팀의 ‘이인뎐裡人傳’으로, 북청사자놀음의 구조를 바탕으로 사자탈춤을 추는 두 인물 간 관계와 호흡을 통해 연희의 생동감을 해학적으로 표현한다. ▲ 세 번째 작품은 연희점추리 팀의 ‘신명-현행하는 몸’으로, 신명나는 전통연희를 역동적인 신체 에너지로 풀어낸 공연이다.
각 공연은 전통예능의 원형을 바탕으로 하면서도 음악, 연출, 무대 구성 등 다양한 요소에서 현대적 해석을 더해 새로운 무형유산 공연 경험을 제공할 것이다.
Encountering the Future of Intangible Cultural Heritage Traditional Performances on Stage
The National Intangible Heritage Center, National Intangible Heritage Institute (Director Park Pan-yong), will hold a public event called 'Intangible Heritage Creation Lab Showcase' at 4 p.m. on April 3rd at the National Intangible Heritage Institute's Ullimaru Grand Performance Hall in Jeonju, Jeollabuk-do. This event will showcase the first results of the newly launched 'Intangible Heritage Creation Lab' residency program to theater professionals and performance experts, where traditional performing artists reinterpreted traditional performances with a modern sensibility.
Since 2020, the National Intangible Heritage Institute has been operating the residency-based creation program 'Intangible Heritage Performing Arts Residence' through a public recruitment process, supporting selected traditional artists to reside in educational facilities within the institute to produce performances. Starting this year, they have expanded the participation method through the 'Intangible Heritage Creation Lab' program, allowing traditional artists to directly engage in the entire process from planning to research, creation, and presentation with performance experts, developing performance content that reflects contemporary sensibilities.
This event, targeted at theater professionals and performance experts, will feature three teams showcasing new possibilities of intangible heritage. Through experts' evaluations, the completeness of the works will be checked, and the potential for future performance distribution and expansion directions will be reviewed together, aiming to strengthen the creative capacity of intangible heritage performances and establish a foundation that can lead to distribution and dissemination.
The first piece is 'BIRTH: My Profound Ritual' by the BLUE CHANT team, a modern reinterpretation of the East Coast Star God Ritual 'Sejeon Gut,' expressing the emotions of a shaman with a gently flowing sound, conveying blessings and energy. The second piece is 'In the Thread of People' by the TARA team, expressing the vitality of traditional Korean mask dance through the relationship and breath between two characters dancing the lion mask dance based on the structure of Bukcheong Saja-noreum. The third piece is 'Shinmyeong - Active Body' by the Yeonhee Jeomchuri team, a dynamic performance that expresses the lively traditional Korean mask dance with energetic body movements.
Each performance will provide a new experience of intangible heritage performances by adding modern interpretations in various elements such as music, direction, and stage composition while being based on the original form of traditional performing arts.
