【전북교육신문】국제자매도시인 전주시와 일본 가나자와시가 자매결연 25주년을 앞두고 상호 우호와 협력을 강화하기로 했다.
전주시는 무라야마 다카시 시장을 비롯한 가나자와시 대표단 10명이 지난 10일부터 오는 12일까지 2박 3일간의 일정으로 전주를 찾았다고 11일 밝혔다.
지난 2002년 4월 자매결연을 맺은양 도시는 이후 행정과 전통공예, 스포츠, 도서관 등 다방면에서 교류를 이어왔다.
이번 방문은 오는 2027년 자매결연 25주년을 앞두고 시 차원의 정례 교류 및 협력 확대 방안을 논의하자는 가나자와시의 제안으로 성사됐다.
특히 시와 가나자와시 대표단은 전주 방문 이틀째인 11일 오전 조지훈 전주시장과 무라야마 다카시 시장을 비롯한 양 도시 주요 관계자들이 참석한 가운데 우호 관계를 한 단계 도약시키기 위한 ‘전주-가나자와 정책 교류 간담회’를 가졌다.
이 자리에서 참석자들은 새롭게 출범한 민선9기 전주시와 재선으로 민선2기를 맞은 가나자와시의 주요 시정 운영 방향을 공유하고, 실질인 교류 정례화 방안을 심도 있게 논의했다.
또한 양 도시는 유네스코 창의도시(전주시-미식, 가나자와시-공예 및 민속예술)라는 공통점을 바탕으로 각 도시가 가진 전통문화의 계승과 발전 방안을 모색하고, 시민들이 체감할 수 있는 홍보 및 교류 방안을 논의했다.
이와 함께 양 도시는 지속적인 지식·문화 정보 공유를 위한 ‘전주시-가나자와시 도서관 우호 교류 협략(MoU) 갱신 체결식’도 가졌다.
가나자와시 방문단은 이번 전주 방문 일정 동안 덕진공원과 청연루 등 전주시 주요 야간 관광 자원 시찰 및 한옥마을 투어를 진행했으며, 연화정도서관, 전주시립도서관 ‘꽃심’, 전북혁신도시복합문화센터, 팔복예술공장 등 전주시의 대표적 도서관 및 복합문화공간을 둘러보는 ‘전주시립도서관 여행’에 참여해 전주의 우수한 도서관 정책을 살펴봤다.
조지훈 전주시장은 “자매결연 25주년이라는 뜻깊은 기점을 앞두고 전주를 방문한 가나자와 시장단을 모든 전주시민들 대표해 환영한다”면서 “이번 방문을 계기로 양 도시 간의 행정 교류를 정례화하고, 다방면에서 실질적 성과를 낼 수 있는 굳건한 협력 체계를 다져나가겠다”고 말했다.
Seeking to Expand Exchange as Jeonju City and Kanazawa City in Japan Celebrate 25th Anniversary of Sister City Relationship
The sister cities of Jeonju in South Korea and Kanazawa in Japan have decided to strengthen mutual friendship and cooperation ahead of their 25th anniversary of sisterhood.
Jeonju City announced on the 11th that a delegation of 10 representatives from Kanazawa, including Mayor Takashi Murayama, visited Jeonju from the 10th to the 12th for a 2-night, 3-day schedule.

During their visit to Jeonju, the Kanazawa delegation conducted tours of major nighttime tourist attractions in Jeonju such as Deokjin Park and Cheongnyeonru, as well as a tour of the Hanok Village. They also participated in a "Jeonju City Library Tour," visiting representative libraries and cultural spaces in Jeonju, including the Yeonhwajeong Library, Jeonju City Library "Kkot Sim," Jeonbuk Innovation City Complex Cultural Center, and Palbok Art Factory, to learn about Jeonju's excellent library policies.
