개회식에서는 치어리딩 공연과 관객 참여형 응원전을 시작으로 진안지역 학생과 14개 시군 선수단 등 80명으로 구성된 올림픽 유치 응원단이 현수막과 깃발, 오색 풍선을 들고 입장하며 유치 분위기를 끌어올렸다.
관람석에서도 응원단의 행진에 맞춰 박수와 환호가 이어졌으며, 선수단과 도민들이 함께 손을 흔들며 올림픽 유치 응원에 동참했다.
